Global Awards for Excellence in BPM and Workflow

Required Format

You must address each of the following points in the order given. 

If you are unsure how to create your entry, you should obtain a copy of previous submissions such as published in the Excellence in Practice series. You can also download previous winning case studies from www.e-workflow.org.

Use the following points as your sub-chapter headings. Each sub-chapter is required.

  1. Executive Summary / Abstract (one paragraph)
  2. Overview - one half to one full page expanded summary description.
  3. The key business motivations behind the project.
  4. The key innovation, demonstrating the impact that derived from the new system across three sub-categories (each required).
    1. Business – describe the impact on the way the firm engages its customers, partners and suppliers etc. (or other key stakeholders)
    2. Process – with before and after schematics of the process.
    3. Technology – showing the architecture of the new system.
  5. The impact on users of the system and what their jobs now entail compared to beforehand.
  6. The new system configuration (type of software, servers, etc.)
  7. The biggest hurdles overcome during the project across three sub-categories:
    1. Management
    2. Business
    3. Technology
  8. Quantify any benefits across each sub-category:
    1. Cost savings
    2. Increased revenues
    3. Productivity improvements
  9. Best Practices, Learning Points and Pitfalls to Avoid
  10. Competitive advantages gained and how you moved competitive goal posts for your industry
  11. Immediate and long-term plans to sustain competitive advantage

For the 2007 Awards, a Word Template will be developed to and made available on this site. All submissions must be developed using this template.

Rules

  1. To be eligible, nominees must illustrate demonstrable benefits since January 2006 (the 2007 Awards relate to Jan 2006 onward), and should have been implemented the system within the past three years. Completely new implementations must have been running for six months by deadline date (otherwise they will not be considered).
  2. If submitting an older project or a previous award submission, major changes must have taken place in the past two years or since the last submission (for example; significant scope change, new users, new applications, or introduction of new technology). Submission must detail changes and motivation.
  3. Installation size is not a significant factor: Success and innovation are more important. The installation, however, must have demonstrable, innovative and proven benefits. Pilots more than six months old are acceptable, as long as the entry also details the ultimate goals.
  4. There is no limit to the number of installations that you may nominate, however a non-refundable handling charge of US$200.00 is required to accompany each entry.
  5. Vendors may nominate their customers and user organizations may nominate themselves.
  6. All entries must be submitted electronically.
