Biography Layna Fischer Chair General Manager Executive Director Ms. Fischer is editor and publisher of the business book series, The Workflow Handbook, published in collaboration with the Workflow Management Coalition. and New Tools for New Times: which includes The Workflow Paradigm, now in its second edition, an anthology about the impact of information technology on business process reengineering, and Electronic Commerce, an anthology by leading experts in the fields of all aspects of making profits online (now out of print). The first book in the Excellence in Practice series, called Excellence in Practice, Innovation and Excellence in Workflow and Imaging was released in March 1997. This is a collection of international case studies from winners of the annual Excellence in Workflow Awards, now in its 5th volume. As chair of WARIA, she is also the Awards Director Future Strategies Inc., a publishing and information technology company, specializes in international research and dissemination of information about information and workflow technology, business process redesign and electronic commerce. As such, the company contracts and works closely with individuals and corporations throughout the USA and the world, collaborating on joint projects using state of the art information technology. Ms. Fischer also heads up WARIA, the Workflow And Reengineering International Association, and chairs the board of its recently formed Academy of Business Process Improvement. Ms. Fischer was conference co-director of the Giga Information Group Business Process and Workflow Conferences produced annually in Europe and the USA and was director of the Workflow '94 Boston Conference and The Workflow Conference on Business Process Technology, of which her company, Future Strategies Inc., was the joint producer. She also sits on the Executive Committee of the Black Forest Group. Her experience in the computer industry includes being the president and CEO of a multi-million dollar high-technology export company for seven years, during which time she also founded an offshore franchise distribution company called Computer Direct. Ms. Fischer was also a senior editor of a leading computer publication for four years and has been involved in international computer journalism and publishing for over 18 years.
